Located along the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains, the City of Rancho Santa Margarita was incorporated on January 1, 2000, and became the 33rd city in the County of Orange holding the longest city name in California.
The City was planned and developed to become an "Urban Village" with one Master Association overseeing the community and development sub associations to the master association. The Master Association maintains 13 parks, 4 pools, a lagoon, a lake and numerous trails within the community. Central Park located next to City Hall, contains a large amphitheater where a number of community events are held each year.
The City has a population of over 48,000. The central community is comprised of enclaves of townhomes, condominium homes and neighborhoods of single family residences, most in a Spanish architectural flavor. A man made lake and private beach club is surrounded by several developments with lake views. There are three distinct communities within the City of Rancho Santa Margarita.
Dove Canyon is a private residential community located in eastern Rancho Santa Margarita. It is a small enclave of approximately 1,200 homes and 5,000 residents within the guard-gated entry. All of the homes in Dove Canyon are single-family residences. It is located in the Southeastern most foothills of Orange County.
Robinson Ranch is a mid-sized residential community located in northeastern Rancho Santa Margarita south of Trabuco Canyon and features a range of single family dwellings. It is one of the older communities in Rancho Santa Margarita.
Rancho Cielo is a smaller residential community located in eastern Rancho Santa Margarita. Rancho Ceilo features manned gated entry. All of the homes are single family residences.
The city is served by Saddleback Valley Unified School District and the Capistrano Unified School District. |
